Their organic products are certified by the Soil Association and comply with COSMOS Organic standards, ensuring consistently high thresholds for ingredient integrity across skincare, personal care and household products.
Neal’s Yard Remedies has also never used plastic microbeads, and has played an active role in lobbying governments to ban them globally, working alongside organizations like Greenpeace and Fauna & Flora International.

Packaging with a Circular Mindset
Moving toward a circular economy is an explicit goal for Neal’s Yard Remedies. The brand works to minimize single-use packaging, particularly non-recyclable plastics. Glass is used wherever possible, and when plastic is necessary, Neal’s Yard Remedies prioritizes 100 percent post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic. All of the brand’s iconic blue plastic bottles are now made entirely from PCR plastic.
Paper and card packaging is responsibly sourced using FSC® and PEFC certified or 100 percent recycled materials, with full chain-of-custody traceability from producer to end user. Product cartons and gift boxes also use Carbon Balanced Paper through the World Land Trust.
Carbon Neutral, Powered by Renewables
Neal’s Yard Remedies was the first UK high street retailer to become certified CarbonNeutral®, offsetting its greenhouse gas emissions every year since 2008 and committing to remain carbon neutral going forward.
Their eco-manufacturing facility in Dorset, England, operates on 100 percent renewable energy, with solar panels generating up to 18 percent of the site’s electricity. Its Bee Lovely campaign has raised more than £360,000 for bee-friendly causes since 2011 and played a role in securing the original EU ban on neonicotinoid insecticides.
