Free2b Is Bringing Allergy-Friendly Sun Cups to the Halloween Candy Bowl

The seasonal Bag O’ Treats is designed to make trick-or-treating a little more inclusive for kids with food allergies.
Halloween is supposed to be about costumes, trick-or-treating and the all-important candy haul. But for families managing food allergies, that haul can also mean checking labels, sorting candy and swapping out treats that aren’t safe to eat.
Free2b Foods wants to make that part a little easier.
The allergy-friendly treat maker has brought back its seasonal Bag O’ Treats, featuring 20 individually wrapped Sunflower Butter Sun Cups. The cups combine sunflower butter with a creamy chocolate coating and are made in Free2b’s dedicated allergy-friendly facility. They’re Top 9 allergen-free and safe for school.
It’s a mission we heard about firsthand when Seeing Green caught up with Free2b’s Monique Heineman at Sweets & Snacks Expo.
Monique told us that Free2b’s seasonal products are intended to help kids with food allergies participate in celebrations where they can sometimes feel excluded. Halloween is a particularly obvious example: kids can return from trick-or-treating with a bag full of candy they may not actually be able to eat.
That focus on inclusion comes with some other Seeing Green-friendly credentials. Free2b says its products are vegan, gluten-free, Non-GMO Project Verified and Kosher, in addition to being Top 9 allergen-free.
The company manufactures its products in its own facility, which Monique told Seeing Green doesn’t allow products containing the Top 9 food allergens or non-vegan ingredients inside.

Free2b’s Bag O’ Treats are available for a limited time online and at retailers including Amazon, Fresh Thyme, Fred Meyer, MOM’s Organic Market, PCC Community Markets and Thrive Market, along with select locations of Publix, Wegmans, Hy-Vee, QFC and several other regional retailers. They’re also available directly from Free2b while supplies last.
And as Monique put it in announcing this year’s return, the goal isn’t to give kids with allergies some consolation prize on the side. It’s “just really good candy that kids enjoy together.”
